Outside Brothers Seafood, Ingrid, who has lived in the neighborhood for four years, is waiting for her order to be ready. (Views shared in Spanish).

A place that means a lot to me: The mall (Bronx Terminal Market). It’s so close by, I don’t have to take the train to get there. And it has everything…a supermarket, Home Depot, and stores where they sell things from clothes, to shoes, to handbags.

What concerns me: So far so good – I feel good here!

What I would like to see 5 years from now: More recreation spaces for children – there are not many of those.

Spanish original, and more views, below the photo.

Brothers Seafood on Walton Ave, Melrose, Bronx

Nearby, a family is sitting on chairs outside a building on 150th Street, near Grand Concourse.

One thing they would like to see more of is “matas” – plants and shrubs along the sidewalks. In front of their building, there is a square of earth, but since a tree that was there died two years ago, nothing has been planted to replace it. They would like the neighborhood to be free from drugs, and safer at night. And to have a library much closer by that offers free classes.

Kayla in Mill Pond Park

In nearby Mill Pond Park, Kayla is with some friends. She lives by Park Avenue in the Mott Haven neighborhood.

A place that means a lot to me: My building, because I grew up there, and I have a lot of friends there.

What concerns me, and what I’d like to see five years from now: I don’t like the shootings and the fighting. I’d like to make the buildings much more cleaner, not infested by mice. It’s a pretty good neighborhood, it’s just the shootings, and the people fighting, they don’t really get along.
